Adding value in thyroid cancer diagnostic: thyroglobulin and calcitonin measurement in fine needle aspirate washout
Andra-Ileana Caragheorgheopol, PhD - senior researcher, medical chemist at "C.I. Parhon" National Institute of Endocrinology, Bucharest, Romania. She currently leads the Research Laboratory of the institute, and is Associate Researcher in the Research Department of the Endocrinology Chair at "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. Her early career was focused on setting-up the methods for hormones radioimmunoassay. In this field she completed her PhD thesis with the accomplishment of an in-house radioimmunoassay kit for testosterone measurement. She graduated Syllabus courses in Clinical Endocrinology and Endocrinopediatry. Her area of interest is represented by hormones’ quantification, immunoassays and other techniques for the identification and measurement of the endocrine pathology markers. She is author and co-author of over 50 papers, 1 book, speaker at scientific events, tutor for master and PhD students, member of the research teams in several national and European-funded projects, reviewer for Acta Endocrinologica (Buc). She is a member of Romanian and European Societies of Endocrinology and Romanian Association of Medical Laboratory, and currently is the National representative in BCLF.
