Genetic technologies in inborn errors of metabolism

Didem Yücel Yılmaz

Didem Yücel Yılmaz graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Science, Department of Biology with third ranked degree in 2001. After receiving B.Sc. degree in 2004, she completed Ph.D. in 2010 in Department of Molecular Biology at Hacettepe University.

She worked as a research assistant at Hacettepe University, Department of Molecular Biology between 2002 and 2010. Upon receiving her Ph.D. in 2010, she started to work in Department of Pediatrics, Metabolism Unit at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. During the doctoral study, she succeeds the discovery of a new gene with an important role in visual function in retina by homozygous mapping, whole exome sequencing and new strategy, Cis-Regulatory Mapping (Cis-regulatory mapping) in a single patient. Since 2015, she has been working as an Assistant Professor at the same department.

She has been working on the pathophysiology of inherited metabolic and neurometabolic diseases. Her research experience are in genomics, genetic mapping, microarray technologies, genetic testing and advanced genomic technologies with applications on health sciences. Didem Yücel-Yılmaz has many high ranked international publications in this fields.
