Oral Presentations VI
The future of cytometry in Europe
I received my BSc and MSc in Biological Applications and Technology in 2005. I defended my PhD in Biology from University of Ioannina in 2010. Since 2011 I work as a Post-doctoral Researcher in the University of Ioannina and the Biomedical Research Division of IMBB-FORTH. I have received Scholarships from Stavros Niarchos Foundation and Greek State Scholarships Foundation. I have contributed towards the publication of 30 research articles, mostly in the field of Cancer Biology. I am interested in the epigenetic mechanisms leading to carcinogenesis and the development of novel anticancer strategies. Recently we have uncovered novel epigenetic networks that contribute in step-by-step cancer development and we have established methodologies that discriminate cancer cells from adjacent normal tissue. In support of our research efforts, I have contributed in the development of novel flow cytometry protocols for rapid DNA content analysis and cell phenotype determination.
