She has graduated Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1996. She has completed her Medical Biochemistry Specialization Training in January 2001 and her Biochemistry PhD in 2004 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. She became Assistant Professor in 2005, Associate Professor in 2011 and Professor in 2018 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. At present, beside her academical position, she is also the responsible director for Metabolism Laboratory Section in Clinical Pathology Laboratories of Hacettepe University Hospitals.
Between 2002-2003, she has performed researches on molecular basis of Lysosomal Storage Disorders at 'Hospital for Sick Children, Research Institute, Department of Structural Biology and Biochemistry' in Toronto, Canada with Postdoctoral Scholarship by TUBITAK. With her works she has been awarded as a Young Investigator at 'The 22nd World Congress of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine', Korea. She has continued her researches on new therapeutic approaches (gene therapy/pharmacological chaperones) in Lysosomal Storage Disorders as a visiting scientist at 'Hospital for Sick Children, Research Institute, Genetics and Genome Biology’ in Toronto, Canada with TUBITAK Research Fellowship between 2011-2012. She has also experiences and collaborations with the specialized laboratories for inherited metabolic disorders around the world (Heidelberg, Padova, Greenwood, Tokyo, Paris, London).
Her proficiency areas are Inherited Metabolic Diseases centered on molecular basis, screening, diagnosis/prenatal diagnosis, new therapeutic strategies; neurodegenerative metabolic diseases; protein folding disorders; polymorphisms and disease relations, method validation.
In Metabolism Laboratory Section the screening, diagnosis and prenatal diagnosis for LSDs as well as other inherited metabolic disorders have been performed together in close collaboration with the Division of Pediatric Metabolism at Hacettepe University Children’s Hospital, Ankara- Turkey.
